The word transformation has multiple shades of meaning: to change, to alter, to metamorphose, to convert, to transfigure and to transmute. As a movement, it is our mission to “Glorify God by multiplying transformational churches among all people”. This occurs in basically two ways. The first is through experiencing the ongoing work of the gospel in our lives as the pastor and people of a local church. God changes us and the people with whom we worship, not just at the moment of conversion, but also as a process throughout our lives. Some moments of change are more noticeable than others, but the Lord who began a good work within us continues to accomplish His purposes of transformation. Second each local church has the opportunity to make a transformational impact on the people and communities around them. Lives outside the church are changed in meaningful ways as they interact with believers.
This fall as we gather, our focus is to remind ourselves both through the Scripture and through stories of God’s people, that God is indeed at work changing and transforming lives. God has a plan and direction to everyone open to the power of the gospel. Our speakers will share both from the Word and from personal experience as to how they are seeing God change lives. We encourage you to consider a story you personally may want to share of the transforming power of God in your life, in your church, or in the life of your community.
Always at the heart of our retreat is the opportunity to experience warm fellowship among fellow pastors and their wives. We are anchoring our retreat this year in SW Missouri, close to the new ministry location for Al and Terri Frank. Roaring River was a popular retreat location for the previous Mid-South District and we believe you will enjoy it. We also are planning adequate time for relaxation or other activities. Roaring River has beautiful grounds for hiking and exploring in a natural setting. On Monday evening we will have the opportunity to say a heartfelt goodbye to Al and Terri Frank. This will be an opportunity to both reflect upon and thank God for their years of faithful ministry among us.
We are blessed this year to have three “of our own” who are “on the front lines” to serve us along with one of our Reach Global Missionaries. Brad Wos is our District Director of Multi-Cultural Ministry. Todd Brooks serves a diverse congregation within St. Louis, MO. Mark Kiekhaefer is the lead pastor at Living Hope EFC in Jefferson City, MO. Jim Carlson is our Reach Global missionary. He is based in Paris, France. He calls Siloam Springs, AR, his home while he is in the states.
