An important question facing those us leading a local through a new year of ministry is, “How do we know if we are making disciples?” Many local churches hope they’re making disciples by faithfully preaching the scriptures and offering some growth oriented programming like small groups. How do we know if in the midst of all our well intentioned activity we’re succeeding at making disciples? How do our people know how to measure their progress as disciples? How can they know how make a disciple if they’re unclear on their own progress as a disciple?
4 Chair Discipling is an equipping workshop developed by Sonlife to help your people and leaders capture a picture of what it means to be and make a disciple. The training is built around four key challenges from Jesus to his disciples. It helps leaders think clearly about what they need to provide to help their people grow into the disciple Jesus longs for them to become. A church attender of any maturity can walk away from 4 Chairs with a clear sense of their progress as a disciple and what their next step will be.
On Saturday, February 29, Harvest EFC in Story City is hosting a 4 Chair Discipling Workshop. The 4 Chair Workshop meets from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM (workshop check-in is from 8-8:30 am). 4 Chair is not a program. It presents disciple making as a way of life, giving people a clear vision from the life of Jesus of what it means to live as a fruit bearing disciple. The cost is $20 for individuals or a couple sharing a manual, and $35 for couples with two manuals. Many of our churches have found 4 Chair very helpful in gaining traction and building momentum in disciple making. We encourage you and your people to take advantage of this timely morning of equipping. Kyle Bartholic from Christ Community Church in Ames and Larry Austin, Central District Director of Church Health, are pleased to serve as equippers for the morning.
To register yourself or others at (provide link). The registration deadline is February 26. Walk-up registrations will be accepted on a space available basis. If you have questions about the workshop, contact me.
We hope to see you on February 29! One additional degree of clarity from the Jesus—the definitive model for making disciples—can make all the difference in the year to come!
