As you know, the Central District EFCA Transition Team was tasked with finding a suitable candidate for District Superintendent to replace Dr. Calvin Swan at the 2020 District Conference. We are pleased to announce the selection of Rev. Mike Shields to be placed in nomination for District Superintendent!
Mike brings 27 years of ministry in the EFCA, has received a Masters of Divinity and an MA in Counseling Psychology, both from TEDS, and is presently completing his Doctor of Ministry from Talbot School of Theology.
Mike has previously served in two Central District churches. The first was Glenwood EFC from 1991-1994, and the second was Indianola Community Church from 1996-2002. During part of his tenure at Indianola Community Church Mike also served as Vice Chair of the Central District Board of Directors.
Mike is currently serving as interim pastor at HMBC in Hillsboro, Kansas (working through Interim Pastor Ministries). He and his wife Tracy currently worship at Valley Church in West Des Moines, Iowa.
At the District Conference, March 9-10, 2020, the delegates at the conference will vote to affirm Mike as the new District Superintendent.
We want to thank you for your prayers and support during the past 7 months, and we thank God for His guidance in leading us in this process. We are humbled by God’s hand in bringing a man of Mike’s character and experience to us at such a time as this, and look forward to how God may drive our movement in the coming years.
